My swap at Monika's

I always enjoy going into GA...and attending Monika Davis's downline....none of her downline came to her meeting....only her adoptees (me among them...lol), and sidelines.   We made our new color sheets and one of the make n takes was made by Anne Arnold....the really sweet lady I sometimes stay with when I am in town....will show you some of the swaps and the make n takes this week on my blog...this first one is my swap, one from my class a couple of weeks ago....
I absolutely love this scalloped ribbon..I am so glad they are having more in the new catty...this card is embosed in black and a blender pen is used using melon and olive ink...the layers are propped up...have an enjoyable and blessed evening....

In Georgia at Monika Davis's downline meeting

I have been so blessed  to have Monika as an adopted upline.  I am from Ohio and Michelle  Weinman is my upline .(We communicate online and via mail)  Monika is always so kind and has such wonderful ideas.   I have been to two of her MDS retreat and they were so well worth the expense.  She does the retreat with Cindy Schuster (I think that last name is incorrect spelling)...If you ask Monika , Cindy is the tech person but they both are...obviously, my opinion.  Cindy's work was shown at the digital display at convention.  I travel about two hours to the meetings and sometimes stay overnight at the Hampton in Woodstock.  Lately, Anne Arnold (another one of Monika's adoptees...lol), in Woodstock , has opened her house to me for an overnight...what a great family they are...and love a lot of Anne's creations......................I will be attending one of the those meetings and overnights today and tonight.  I will be taking some pictures at Monika's...to put on my blog when I return....Have a blessed day....

Vespers and Pretty Postage Quilt Card

This card is a case from Sharon Field....the top part of the card.  Sharon has so much talent....unbelievable.  Before reading her blog, I had never attempted using the watercolor crayons on darker paper.  I was so surprised that the vanilla came out on the blue paper....you may have to add more than one coat...but the result is so worth the effort....
I did a quilt class within the last year.....I love how this came out....I found the pattern online and just used my incolor and Pretty Postage set with it...the way I had my customers do it was to use a piece of our graph paper (which I printed on our whisper white).   When they finished, they emossed it with the Houndstooth embossing folder.   Have a wonderful blessed day.....

Mother's Day card, Father's Day card and skirt card

These petals were made from the now retired heart punch...the small piece of paper is folded....but they could be done with the blossom punch....the centers are using the button emblosslit.

This was my BBQ dad using  punch art...the handle for the spatula is the bird punch..with the jewelry tag punch used at the end.
I am sure you have seen this many times but I loved that paper when it was here...this is using the large square scalloped die....the rose is made using the 1 1/4 circle with the scalloped circle  and making the flower by wrapping it around a thin bamboo thingie used for BBQing...sorry the name of it slipped my mind....Have a great day.....

So sorry for the error

Can you tell I am new at this?   Gheez....will post some older cards on here as an apology....too bad you can't erase...that is what happens when you post from two computers....the one above is a card I made for a friend...was trying to do some punch art....challenging myself...lol
This is another punch art design I came up with...was sort of proud of this one...lol...have a nice evening...

Autumn Days Share and one from preconvention

Not sure if I am ever going to get to go on another bike ride....got a bike rack and it took me forever to figure it out and put in on my car. Then I spent another hour or two trying to get my bike on the rack..I even got a ladder as the hybrid is heavier than my former racer bike.  I waited until I saw my friends , Nita and Mike on Sunday and then asked them to look at it...Mike is so handy...even though I hate to ask ....I had no clue.  Well, I found out yesterday that Dick's gave me the wrong bike rack.  That figures..lol....will have to take it back (40 miles away) in the morning...bummer!!  Well, enough of the mechanical stuff...lol...onto the better stuff....making cards.....

This was one of the cards that we did during the year for the FROM OUR HEARTS ministries....we do three cards ....10 each of 3 designs.  Martie Shea runs the group...the cards are blank on the inside so that the soldiers can write inside and send them back to their loved ones.  Martie started this ministry a number of years ago...after her son had served his sixth tour in Iraq and mentioned that it was too bad that cards like she made were not available where they were....I have lost count as far as the number of bases the cards are shipping to in Iraq and Afganistan.  If you would like additional information, go to fromourhearts.info

This was one of the cards that we did last year in the shoebox swap last year...I believe the woman that created this card was Tamara...isn't it gorgeous!!  Love the use of the refills...have a great evening....

Love the Apothecary set

This apothecary set was done with a blender pen and the ribbon was put under the first layer..used and exacto knife to cut the two ends of paper to insert  the ribbon

Will miss this set....Oval All

I have used this set ssssoooo many times for the easel effect but that will be no more....and the small oval is also gone...I did this card orginally in blue and then used it as a class and swap...so I did it in varying colors...used the 3 and 3 1/2 in circle with the large scalloped circle....this one is done in Daffodil Delight and Concord Crush...I will miss that color....it is hard to see but there is an embossing folder (Elegant Bouquet) imprint on the front piece.  The original card is below...I actually love them both...but blue is my favorite color, so I lean towards that one.lol

This card is one I made for my card ministry(From Our Hearts group for soldiers)....love that set and the pheasant is sssoo vibrant....a lot of sponging on this one...

This is a card from the shoebox swap at Sherrill's preconvention ....if you think this is great, you should see the stamp camps....I am instructing, as are so many talented people...this is an activity you don't want to miss....hope to see you there....have a great day.....

labels collection share

This is a card that I made for a class at the beginning of SAB using the blossom punch....markers were used and then the two pieces cut from the blossom punched area were added at the bottom of the butterfly...the fine ribbon was tied around the shape

Love our labels collection...this is a card that I sent to a couple of friends earlier this year...I love the white embossing on baja....so elegant combination.....Have a great day...

House updates and Open House

If all goes well, the inspection will be able to sign off on my roof and drywall and the roofer can be paid....finally!!  Had to have the drywall stop over to fix a couple of things before the inspector comes over on Weds ....he was late , so I was late dropping off a raspberry jello dish with sauce at my friend's house.  Thought I would call the doctor to tell his nurse I was running late ...forgot my cell so called from a friend's house. She was going to cancel....this is a 30 min trip one way.....gheez.....so had to wait in the office and didn't get out til ten thirty...9 appt...that is what I get for being 10 mins late.  How come it doesn't work the other way around...I was 10 mins early the last appt and waited an additional 30 mins....(bought some card items to get ready for some of my swaps) .that's life..lol  Have infected ears from a sinus issue...I hate meds...lol...

I am so glad that Joan, my sister, is moving to Florida this month...she never wanted to leave..I know she is ssssssoooo happy about the move....was hoping she would stop for a weekend, but guess I knew that wouldn't happen....we can always hope...

Got a call from a friend last nite....love you ....I was suppose to travel to OH this month but didn't work out...maybe later in the summer.....

My Open House went well Saturday...the big give away was a simply scoreboard with the bag we got at convention....we made two cards.......even though I couldn't get to my dishes because of the mess in my house...the food went pretty well...took the rest to church Sunday.  Had meatballs, punch, chinese coleslaw, frozen strawberry salad, orange cupcakes and celery stuffed with black olives, nuts, dates....too bad I was too busy to take more pictures...had 15 people stop....five stopped Friday nite as they had a previous commitment...family, church....felt a little bad about feeding them, so I got some of the frozen salad..  There is some library punch in the back...notice the nice ice bucket...told you everything was buried.....had 10 on Saturday.  Door prizes were received by everyone who had taken a class and attended Open House...I did it different last yr but thought this was a better way.  Customer appreciation...would like to do it more often....might be able to this year or next.  We did a get well bandaid card and a simple one that had to do with the sizzix doily die and the 2 1/2 inch punch....will show that latter in the week.
These are samples of the box class I will be repeating this month or next...no date set as of yet!!
This is another one of Diane's cards....such a talent..she makes me feel I am in slow gear!!lol!!

After Dancing with the Stars, I will do some cleaning...maybe in two weeks this will be cleaned up....hope so....Can't wait to get my goodies from SU...it would be nice if they came this weekend, but may have to wait until Monday...bummer....love getting packages...feels like Christmas.

Kindness, hostess share and In Wilderness

I used the simply score board to add lines inside the orange and white area.  I don't think it shows very well in the picture.  The purple area was added with the SAMJ.
Karen Barber makes this technique look ssssoooo easy....you need a good gel pen to do this...it didn't turn out as well as it could have ...

The crumbled paper technique used below was inked direct to paper....with cajun and daffodil delight...have a great day....

a couple more shares

I love the way the tile card turned out.  The trick is to not pressed as hard when you stamp so the tile effect will show up.  This should be easy with our new stamp pads...once I learn to stamp lightly...lol....

The valentine card came out so cool...used crystal effects to make the chocolate shiny....as Robin Merriman says, this was a happy dance card...lol...have a great day...
