Folder card....winter theme..one on one swap

Had a hard time envisioning this card....wanted it a folder card but took me awhile....sort of satisfied with this one...used the festive flurry with versamark on the front...this card is prettier in person...hope the person loved it...lol...
used the saying from the boot set...used a versamark pen and embossed in silver....
 just an informal saying...

Donut card...case from Mercedes

This card was on the Leadership board...one of the many swaps.....I changed it up a little but the design is definitely Mercedes....she said she asked her husband what the embossing folder reminded her of...and he said a donut...and it really does...see what a  helped your significant other/husband can be...great idea...used the crumb cake seam binding...instead of the twine....and made the donut shape from the 2.5 inch circle, not sure how Mercedes did it....sponged with choc chip and espresso...donut is popped...
good enough to eat.....1 7/8 scallop for bite part...lol
 saying popped...

Box card tutorial

There have been quite a few utube videos on this card...but I like it in steps for me to copy...so doing the same here...the one I am quoting is from Tanya Bell (Aus) demo's site....I just took  pictures of the steps...my card is in brown...the tutorial is red...thought the espresso was too hard to see picture wise....I did case some of my backyard basics on the card from Tanya's sample....I have two friends that lovvvvveee animal prints, so that is the only non SU product in my sample..will post a new one after Valentine's ...working on it for my honey, Orlando, and do not want him to see the sample BEFORE he gets its...lol This is the sampel of the one I did...it fits in a regular card size envelope....we call it an A2 envelope ...In AUS..Tanya mentioned that it was an A6 (may be in her country..not sure)

This is the sides of the made box...will reverse the prints when I make the other one, as the bottom paper is more vivid...shouldn't be hidden...

If you fold it like this...making sure that both the back side and the one flap next to it are flat...will fit in the envelope...just don't make things too high so it won't close...this fit, but I should have double checked the flowers in the middle and scooted them over.....

Card In a Box Tutorial

Start with a 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock...
on the 8.5 side, cut off 1/4 of an inch...
on the 11 inch side...cut back to 9 inches...you now have a piece 8 1/4 x 9 piece of cardstock

 Sorry...I should have written the score lines with a black marker...with the 9 inch side at the top of the score board...score at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, 6 3/8 and 8 1/2

turn the paper 90 degree and score at 2 3/4

With the 2 3/4 inch score on the left of your cutter...trim to 5 1/2 inchces....Tanya had 6 inches but that is too long for our A2 envelopes....this is updated as of 1/29/14...sorry for the error (it would have been nice if I tried it in the envelope first....lol...aren't we always a "work in progress"....lol

with the cut off piece...cut a piece that is 3 1/8 inch, making sure that the 1/2 inch tab is on your left....you can see the tab in the photo...very important...
I used the gel pen so you can see the lines of the tabs after the piece is cut...
turn this small piece and cut it at 1 1/8 inch...these will be the two inside tabs for the objects to stick out of the middle of the box...in my sample...it is the backyard basics  pieces...they are attached with sticky tape..
 two tabs after cutting ....
Go back to the other piece (bigger one)...with the smaller squares at the bottom and cut all score lines from the bottom  to the 2 3/4 line....cut the corner small tab off as shown below....

after doing this fold all vertical lines with bone folder...only vertical lines..the tab piece is on the left hand side..
put sticky tape on the tab area and glue it together...
we still haven't folded the tabs back...the flaps...
this is looking down at the box...the flap with the tab glued to is NOT bend down..the flap stays up..this is important to your card shape...other three flaps are folded down with bone folder...should be just the back one up...
this is what it should look like;....
back to the tabs we cut from the scrap earlier....fold on the scored lines....
space them and glue with sticky strip on the two tabs...equally space them ...you can line one of the up with the edge or both with opposite edges..make sure the pieces are not sticking above the score lines...
the card box is finished...all you have to do is decorate with whatever you like...this is what is looks like folded to go in the envelope......if you have any questions or comments...please leave them on my blog or group page.....

Snow and Box card tutorial

I have been here almost 7 years and during that time I have seen snow here 3 times...this being almost like blizzard conditions...hope and pray those on the road get home safely...this was this am...
 this was mid afternoon......
went up to about 2.5 inches total..now it is slushy but suppose to be in the teens tonight....
this is from the top of my car....lol.....

it looks ssssoooo nice and sparkly when it first comes down...businesses and schools are closed...not sure if they are opening in the am...with the low temps tonight, I doubt it.....no card ministries today....bummer...no problem...will do double next month...

Snowing like crazy here....

Will post some pictures late....this stuff is sticking...bummers...one card ministry canceled...waiting to see if other is....wonder if we can reschedule tomo.....

Vivid Vases....take off on the card done at leadership

Isn't this DSP wonderful...it is from the new SAB coming out this week....love it..went well with this one...used the shimmery white paper....love that for water color ...works well....
close up of the flowers...did more detail in the class...added reds and oranges to tips and center of flowers and made the tulip..light and dark in places...

used the arrow embossing folder from the new mini for an arrow below the design..the scalloped piece  is glued to that piece and are popped as a unit....clip added more texture....that was an original...did my happy dance on that arrow and scrap black piece idea...lol

Valentine class card from last class

Love the Language of Love set we got at Leadership...working so well for this card...had it envisioned and turned out exactly as I wanted...doesn't always happen... but love it....there is a tiny peart colored with red permanent maker on the middle flag..tried to take a close up several times and wouldn't show...know it would n't  be the photograher...lol....after you punch the heart out as low as you can...then  put the heart banner at the tip of the cut out heart....easy to plan the rest that way....lol
fake twine again...just the bows....love the glitter...

Loved adding the heart on the inside after punching the heart edgelits out...used both heart punches and the framelits
