What a great time at convention...So many laughs and good times...With Diane Squires and I , it started with preconvention at the Radisson. This is the project we made...I came up with it from an idea from Amy Kirchner and a tutorial of Sandi Dailey......when I tried the tutorial , the purse was large and the inside very very small.....so I redesigned it to be a smaller purse and the inside was big enough to put in two note cards......here is the project.. A special thank you to Leishman and GInger, Diane's downlines...who helped us with the big shot cuting....
If you do this project on your own/with a class, use the glimmer brads and ribbon for the handles...it is a much cuter look....but we had a set limit to spend so we did most of the purse with paper.
2 pieces of cardstock are needed for this project. The outside of the purse is cut 5 3/4 x 10; the inside piece is cut 7 1/2 x 6 1/2
Outside of purse:
The 5 3/4 x 10 is scored at 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 (the 10 in side is across the top of the scoring board). After the purse is scored, use temporary adhesive to glue the top on the purse together. Post it note is used to attach the edgelit (ador:ning accent)....run the top through the big shot until it goes over the edgelit and then go in the reverse. You have the bottom scored and you don't want to run it all the way through the big shot. After you cut the top.....make a tic mark 1/2 inch up from each of the score line (that form the bottom of the purse)....you can see this in the photo using the green cardstock below
The top picture shows how to make the tic marks on each side of the purse....the second picture shows you with the white gel pen the part that is cut off from each side to make the purse wider at the top.......you draw lines from the tic lines to the edge of each corner.
After this is done, it is a good time to attach the handles....these were cut from scraps from the pieces that were cut for both parts....in these pictures below, they show with the gel pen where to attach the brad for both handles....the embossing folder (adorning accents) was also used on both sides of the top of the purse
This picture doesn't show the brad attached...the brad would be attached below the white gel mark....on the embossing accent part...put the brad on the downward point of the curve....attach both handles....one on each side
Inside the purse:
With the 7 1/2 side at the top, score it at 3 1/4 and 4 1/4.....with the 6 1/2 side at the top, score each side in one inch. Cut the score lines as shown in the picture below....cut them in at an angle as shown in the picture below:
Tape is applied to each tab...on the other side the sticky tape is applied to the end of the center tab.
At this point, the handles are already attached....I left them off in the sample so you could see the tape and how the purse is put together....two strips of sticky tape on each side...attach one side at a time...I did not glue the bottom.
The front of the purse has a 3 x 6 piece of DSP...I used Summer smoochies...use the edgelit to cut the piece at the top and the bottom ...if you look at the picture at the top you can see how it is cut...use post its to keep edgelit from moving. It is then glued on the front.
Rose or Flower for the front of the purse:
Punch either 5 of the scallop or fancy flower....attach them with a mini brad............if you spray each level with a mist of water and crumble as you go, your flower will be fuler.
Here is how I made the notecards...with two embossing folders...just butted them up against each other to make the frame for the vases..
